John’s Automotive Care is hiring an experienced Automotive Service Advisor with independent repair shop experience to help lead daily workflow in a high-performing shop.
This role combines service advising with shop operations leadership, supporting technician productivity, customer communication, and overall shop organization.
This is not an entry-level position.
Experience as a Service Advisor in an independent automotive repair shop is required. Dealership-only experience will not be considered.
We are looking for someone who understands how a professional independent repair shop operates and who can confidently guide customers through repair decisions while keeping the shop running efficiently.
Compensation
$60,000 – $80,000 total compensation
Compensation includes:
Base pay
Performance incentives tied to shop performance and production
This role requires someone who is confident presenting repair recommendations and helping customers make informed decisions about their vehicles.
This role is best suited for experienced advisors who are comfortable managing a busy service desk and maintaining strong average repair orders.
What This Role Looks Like Day-to-Day
This role sits at the center of the shop’s daily operations. You will be responsible for keeping vehicles moving through the shop efficiently while maintaining excellent communication with customers and technicians.
On a typical day you will:
Manage multiple active repair orders simultaneously
Communicate frequently with technicians regarding vehicle diagnostics and repair timelines
Present repair recommendations clearly so customers understand their options
Keep the workflow organized so technicians remain productive
Handle customer questions with professionalism and clarity
This role requires strong organization, confidence in communication, and the ability to stay calm in a fast-paced shop environment.
Responsibilities
Greet customers and guide them through the vehicle service process
Write clear and accurate repair orders
Build and present estimates for vehicle repairs and maintenance
Communicate with technicians regarding diagnostics and repair timelines
Coordinate workflow between technicians, service advisors, and parts suppliers
Help maintain efficient daily shop workflow
Support shop leadership with team accountability and operational organization
Maintain accurate repair documentation and job tracking
Deliver a consistently high level of customer service
Required Experience
Experience as a Service Advisor in an independent automotive repair shop (required)
Experience supporting shop workflow, operations, or service department leadership
Strong understanding of automotive repair terminology and services
Experience writing repair orders and presenting estimates
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple vehicles and customers simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
Experience coordinating technicians or service advisors
Experience supporting shop production and workflow
Strong organizational and leadership abilities
